I come from a traditional Jain Gujarati family in Mumbai, where the values of family and
community have always been central to our lives. In our culture, it’s common for girls to marry
at an early age and many of us receive support from our in-laws to pursue higher education if
needed. I was fortunate enough to experience this, marrying in 1991.
However, the way arranged marriages were traditionally conducted was quite surprising to me. We
didn’t have the luxury of multiple choices and many girls had to accept the match chosen by
their parents. I consider myself fortunate to have had a fulfilling and successful married life,
but I also realized the importance of having more options and the freedom to choose a partner
who truly resonates with one’s values and goals.
This realization led me to create Priya Shah – The Matchmaker. My mission was simple: to offer
individuals the opportunity to find a partner who aligns with their aspirations and life vision,
leading to greater satisfaction, harmony and a fulfilling life together.
It’s been an incredible 34 years since I started my matrimonial service and over the years, I have
continuously evolved as a matchmaker, making changes and improvements based on experience and
feedback. With my son now 27 years old, I have the time and focus to dedicate myself completely to
my passion - transforming the matchmaking process to better serve the needs of individuals and
couples.
For me, helping people find love and companionship is more than just a profession; it’s my life's
purpose. Every match I make is a step toward improving the institution of marriage and helping
people build meaningful, lifelong relationships.
